Designing and setting up efficient production lines requires machine builders to carefully choose among several suppliers.
This led a Bologna, Italy-based company in the industrial automation and robotics sectors to turn to DCM for the integration of Delta robots
autonox
Robotics
on its lines.
The need: handling coffee capsules at high speed on the packaging line
Specifically, the customer needed to handle coffee capsules on a packaging line with a fairly high number of cycles/minute.
The movement consisted of the multiple taking of 20 coffee capsules from a fixed point and the subsequent release in two steps of 10 capsules each onto a step conveyor that carried them to the next stage of packaging.
The solution: Delta robot 3 axis independent controller
After careful analysis, considering the weight to be handled, the proposed solution was to use a Delta 3 axis robot with working area of 900mm, vertical stroke from 200mm to 315mm and payload 1kg.
In addition to these features, a gripping head (gripper) with vacuum system for lifting and handling the capsules.
Tests conducted on the line were immediately successful, guaranteeing the customer’s required performance of 80 cycles/minute. The positive outcome led him to consider our solution the most suitable for the task at hand, and another feature of these robots was highly appreciated: independence from the controller. As they are independent of the controller their integration on new or existing lines is very easy and does not force the customer to have to use a specific controller.
